New toddler book
Toddler book in the making. I have been busy working on a toddler book per request from some ex-pat grandmoms. It will be bilingual as usual and have cute illustrations of puppies.
Last year, I had several ex-pats request a book for 1–2-year-olds. My book table at the market usually has most books for ages 4-8 years old. Pat, who has Piggy Press, has some older children’s books. We only had one book for 1–3-year-olds and my Ngäbe/ Spanish book for counting to 10.
Expanding to younger children
Initially, I told them I would try to write one and get it published by Christmas this year, 2023. After doing some research, I decided to write a story with puppies.
I am currently at the end of the illustration process, and the illustrator has done a beautiful job with the puppies.
Setting up the book
Consequently, we will start the interior design and formatting processes and put the book together. My illustrator is busy working on the book cover, and I’m excited to see what it looks like in the final completion. Furthermore, dedications, author, and illustrator bios must be completed.
Backmatter
In addition, I usually place educational facts and tidbits in the back of my books to enhance the story. I must finish that and edit it. My book had to have a vision to accommodate 1–3-year-olds instead of 4–8-year-olds. Simple, simple, simple, is my mantra. See my books on Jane’s Writing & Mission Adventure page.
Learning process
All in all, I have enjoyed seeing the process come together. I adore the puppies and the way the illustrator has portrayed them. Hopefully, the grandmoms will enjoy the book when it is finished and published.
Hardbook Cover
As a matter of fact, this will be the first time I will have a hardcover for a book. A paperback and possibly an e-book are on the agenda. Be on the outlook! My most recent book is available on Amazon.
