NGÄBE Coloring Book Available.

I finally published my new coloring book about the Ngäbe people Amazon.com. What an endeavor! I told Pat (Piggy Press) that it would be a long time before I created another coloring book! Both coloring books took extra time due to language corrections and researching facts that are presented with the coloring pages. In Panama, the coloring books must have sentences to describe the drawing on the page. We can’t get away with just a plain coloring page figure, it must be explained.

My books with reviews are under Author Page on my website.

Frustration

I pulled my hair out over the first one, because I had to add more info to the pages and the language was English and Spanish. Then, this time, I have three languages- English, Spanish, and some Ngäbe! Consequently, the time required to make sure of facts, spellings, and sentence structure took three times as long.

Different ISBN coloring rules, different country

Therefore, I decided a book is easier to write than to create a coloring book with activities to boot! I read articles where people just threw together some public domain photo’s and no words under the drawings , not much front or back matter, and threw it out for publication. Yeah, right. If only! The fact that I live in a Spanish speaking country, with different rules for ISBN’s, requires more time and effort.

Coloring Book woes

I also had to write the information on the opposite side of the coloring page in order to get three languages covered. One problem I encountered-the Ngäbe language doesn’t always have words for the Spanish language. Therefore, we used concepts for the same idea.

18 Ways to Count!

The Ngäbes have 18 ways to count! So, my first concept book counted with kr for oblong objects, and  numbers in the activity sheets of the coloring book count with kw beginning. I almost missed that, my Ngäbe translater Claudia caught it immediately.

Lots of education going on!

** We also will be drilling a water well in Chorcha at the feeding shelter in a week or so! Feb. 2023.Everyone is excited- pray for water!
