Beyond the YELLOW DOOR

What’s Beyond the YELLOW DOOR?

New explorations

New Book Published involves a young British Guyana girl who visits her aunt and uncle in the country. She has never been to the countryside before and is curious about everything. Nicknamed “Miss Curiosity,” Yihanna lives up to her name. Yihana explores the farm her relatives own and loves to listen to stories.

Favorite story

Yihana’s favorite story is about the empty farmhouse next door. She is intrigued that her cousin heard creepy noises when she went to open a yellow door in the kitchen. Her cousin ran away due to the noises, but Yihana wondered what could be Beyond the Yellow Door.

Curiosity wins out

Nevertheless, Yihana’s curiosity overcomes her, and she sneaks over to the empty farmhouse. Encountering spooky noises as her cousin did , she also becomes frightened. Yihana attempts to discover what is really behind the door but is thwarted three times before she determines to ignore the noises. She eventually opens the door, and a huge surprise awaits her.

Background of story

The inspiration for the story for the new book published is a little 6-year-old girl whose father is from British Guyana. She told me what she liked about animals and nature. I dedicated the book to the three sisters whose photo is in the front of the book. The 6-year-old has special recognition. Consequently, they have been patiently awaiting the publication of the book. I am waiting for a copy so I can edit it to be sure it is ok before ordering. Besides, they have no idea what the story is about. “Is it here yet?” They know their photo is in the book, and their faces light up when discussing that.

Anticipation

I am eagerly awaiting the book and hope they enjoy the story. Beyond the YELLOW DOOR is my third children’s book. My first one was a concept book counting to ten in Spanish and Ngäbe. This book is my second children’s book with a story. In addition, I have two coloring books. See Author’s Page.
