As our Cleft of the Rock Ministry worked with the Ngäbe people, I realized that it is rare that the children have any children’s books of their own culture. My first concept book was written in Spanish and Ngäbe for the children. Following the concept book, I wrote a picture book which takes place on the Comarca in English/Spanish because the Ngäbe children can speak Spanish. In addition, I just recently published a Ngäbe coloring book from activities on the Comarca.
My very first time at the Federal Mall, David, Panama, selling my first concept book on the left display. I was helping Piggy Press.
I like to write for children to enrich their lives with stories to entertain , but also educate them regarding various aspects of our world. My picture book demonstrated the love of a young pig to obtain a rare blue mushroom for her Mamacita’s birthday.
Educational material is placed in the back matter of my books to further educate the young children. The information usually continues with the storyline.
Additionally, Jane’s Writing and Mission adventures involves the Ngäbe nation and their social updates and happenings. We have worked with the Ngäbes for ten years now with our Cleft of the Rock Ministries.
Below click on Ngäbe Nation and Social Tidbits for information on how the Ngäbes are working with their people.
I belong to Children's Book Insider and they offer courses on writing. They also provide webinars and annual conferences with tons of information. The owners print a monthly magazine which provides pertinent , up-to-date information regarding writing. Furthermore, a big plus is that they often have interviews with editors who then will give the reader a chance to submit so many pages, etc. for them to look at and give their opinion. The submission is above the slush pile, it pertains only to the subscribers of the magazine. The magazine is not expensive, it is connected with subscribing to their CBI organization.
